On June 26, 2013 Kaspersky Lab announced the release of Critical Fix 2 (version 8.1.0.1042) for Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows (for file servers).

Critical Fix 2 is integrated into Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows installation package.

Issues fixed in version 8.1.0.1042

  • This release covers all fixes of public patches A, B, C and D.
  • Now it is no longer possible to ignore the product password (if set) when uninstalling Kaspersky Endpoint Security.
  • The "Threats have been detected" event description in the local report of Kaspersky Endpoint Security and the report of Kaspersky Security Center have been synchronized.
  • The date of application database update, when rolling the mouse pointer over the application icon in Microsoft Windows taskbar notification area, is now correctly displayed.
  • The direction name for the network activity to be monitored according to network packet rules is now correctly displayed in the Firewall settings window.
  • Fixed the error related to recording Kaspersky Endpoint Security events in the Windows event log in case Kaspersky Endpoint Security had been installed on top of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows MP4.
  • The action taken on a malicious file is now correctly displayed in the Kaspersky Security Center report.
  • Fixed the error related to preserving the content of the Vendor field when adding an application to the list of trusted application in the Kaspersky Security Center Administration Console plug-in.
  • Fixed the error related to starting Kaspersky Endpoint Security from the host properties in the Kaspersky Security Center Administration Console.
  • Fixed the error related to operation of exclusion rules where the paths are specified using environment variables.
  • Now a copy of a deleted object is correctly placed into Backup in case a request for Advanced Disinfection procedure is rejected.
  • Fixed the error when the application could not be managed via Kaspersky Security Center, if the application had been installed by using the installation package with the "Remove incompatible software automatically" checkbox selected in the properties.
  • Fixed the error related to an incorrect interpretation of IP ranges entered according to RFC 4632 standard.
  • The date of the last database update for computers with Kaspersky Endpoint Security is now correctly displayed in Kaspersky Security Center.
  • Fixed the error related to a slow computer start because of long interpretation of UNC paths used in the Trusted zone rules.
  • Fixed the error when the folder for storing updates was not preserved in the Kaspersky Security Center update task settings, if the path had been specified using the Browse button.
  • Fixed the error related to incorrect representation of the "Network activity allowed" and "Network activity blocked" events in the Windows event log and in the Kaspersky Security Center event log.
  • Fixed the error related to initialization of Kaspersky Endpoint Security after its remote installation via the Kaspersky Security Center task.
  • Fixed the error related to incorrect operation of the update task, if the proxy server with automatic detection of its parameters was used.
  • Fixed the error related to detection of infected objects via KSN, if the Kaspersky Security Center policy was applied to the computer.
  • Incompatibility of Kaspersky Endpoint Security with the TROLL application has been fixed. Now the TROLL application operates normally with Kaspersky Endpoint Security is installed.
  • Fixed the error related to incorrect operation of critical areas scan schedule.
  • Fixed the errors that caused Kaspersky Endpoint Security to crash.

Improvements

  • Sending of notifications of Kaspersky Endpoint Security events via email has been optimized.

Changes

  • Now it is possible to open a scan progress window, when running a Scan task from the Explorer context menu, even when the displaying of local product interface is restricted by the Kaspersky Security Center policy.
  • An option to turn off displaying of the message "Previous application start up failed" has been added.
  • Notifications of events in Kaspersky Endpoint Security email fail, if the user name and the password are specified in the email notification delivery settings while the SMTP server used sending notifications does not require authorization.

Known issues and limitations

  • The following private fixes are not included in this release of Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows CF2: PF18, PF46, PF49, PF55, PF58, PF59, PF62, PF63, PF65, PF66, PF71, PF72, PF74, PF83. They will be re-issued after the release of Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows CF2. Please contact Technical Support team in case you need these patches.
  • When downloading updates that require product service process to restart, the "Quit and reopen application to complete updating" event is not published although the product status is set to "It is required to quit and reopen Kaspersky Endpoint Security".
