During databases update Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014 checks whether a new application version is available. If a new application version is available, the application automatically downloads the version and installs "on top" of the current version.

For example:

  • If Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014 (version 14.0.0.4651) detects a new Maintenance Pack (version 14.0.x.xxxx) on Kaspersky Lab servers, the application will automatically download and install the detected MP "on top" of the installed version.
  • If the application detects that Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 (version 15.0.x.xxxx) is released, the application will automatically download the detected product version and install it "on top" of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014 (version 14.0.x.xxxx).

Be aware that new patches are not new versions.

You can select an action to be performed by the application once a new version is detected:

  1. Open Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014.
  2. At the right bottom corner of the window click Settings.

  1. In the Settings window go to the Additional tab and select Update.

  1. In the New application version section select:
    • Download and install automatically. The application will check whether a new version is released. If a new version is detected, the application will automatically download and install the new version.
    • Prompt for permissions to install before downloading. The application will check whether a new version is released. If a new version is detected, the application will notify about it and asks whether to download and install it.
    • Do not download updates automatically and do not notify when updates and new versions are available (not recommended).

  1. Close the application window.
