To install Light Agent for Windows on the VM template:

  1. Run the virtual machine that you use as a template on the hypervisor.
  2. Install the Light Agent for Windows on it. Installation is performed in the assisted mode via the Installation wizard.
  3. At step 7, select the Installation on the template for temporary VDI pools check box if the template will be used for creating a VDI infrastructure of one of the following types:
    • Citrix XenDesktop random catalog
    • Citrix XenDesktop static catalog with Citrix Personal vDisk
    • Citrix XenDesktop static catalog without saving user’s changes
    • VMware Horizon View automated pool of the linked clone type.

If the check box is selected, then the updates that require the restart of the protected virtual machine will not be installed on the virtual machines deployed using this template. When Light Agent finds updates that require restarting the protected virtual machine, it sends the request to Kaspersky Security Center 10 for updating databases and application modules on the template.

We do not recommend selecting the Installation on the template for temporary VDI pools check box if the template will be used for creating a VDI infrastructure of one of the following types:
  • Citrix XenDesktop static dedicated catalog with local drives
  • VMware Horizon View automated pool of the full clone type
  1. Configure connection of Light Agent to the SVM in the local interface of Light Agent for Windows. Wait until the Light Agent receives the license information after connecting to the SVM.

Light Agent checks the availability of an update package in the folder on the SVM to which it is connected. You can wait until the updates of databases and application modules are received or you can run the update task manually in the Light Agent interface.

  1. Restart the template to optimize the process of OS booting.
  2. Create new virtual machines from the updated template.
