How to restore connection to online storage in Kaspersky Total Security 2017 from another computer

When connecting to online storage created on another computer, an error can occur: Could not log in to Online storage.

To connect to an online storage created on another computer:


Step 1.Write down the name of the folder with backup copies.

  1. Open the Dropbox website https://www.dropbox.com/ and log in under your own account.
  2. In Dropbox, in the Apps -> Kaspersky Backup Storage find the folder with backup copies form the other computer and wright down its name. The folder name will be of the type: <computer name>_<xxxx>, where хххх are the last 4 numbers of the hard drive serial number.

Step 2. Create a new backup task and a new online storage.


  1. In the Kaspersky Total Security 2017 main window, selecty Backup and Restore.

  1. In the Backup and Restore view, click Select files for backup.

  1. In the Select files for backup, click Create backup copies of files from specified folders and click Next.

  1. Click Add folder and select a folder and empty or contains just a few files. Click Register now.

  1. At the Select backup storage step, click Activate.

  1. In the browser window with Dropbox, enter your account details and click Sign in.

  1. Allow access to the Appsfolder by clicking Allow

  1. In Dropbox, there will be a new backup folder.

  1. In Kaspersky Total Security window Create backup copies of files, select the activated online storage and click Next.

  1. Complete the backup tasks by following the Wizard.
  2. Wait until the backup task is completed. In case the backup creation has not started, launch it yourself.
Step 3. Write down the name of the new backup folder in the  Dropbox account.

Step 4. Delete the created online storage in Kaspersky Total Security.

  1. In the Settings window, click Manage Settings.

  1. In the Backup and Restore window, click the arrow next to the Restore files button and select Delete storage.

  1. Confirm detention by clicking the corresponding button.
Step 6. In Dropbox, change the name of the old folder for the name of the deleted one. To do it, right-click the folder and select Rename.

Step 7. Connect the storage to Kaspersky Total Security:

  1. In the Backup and restore window, click the link Connect existing storage

  1. In the Connect storage window, select Online storage and click OK.

  1. In the browser window, enter your Dropbox credentials and click Log in.
  2. Confirm access to the Apps folder by clicking Allow.
  3. You will see the renamed folder in Kaspersky Total Security.
