On May 24, 2007 Kaspersky Lab announces release of Critical Fix 1 for Kaspersky Security 5.5 MP3 for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 (build 5.5.1354.0)
Kaspersky Security 5.5 for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 is designed to protect mailboxes and public folders on Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 against malware and unsolicited e-mail (spam).
Differences of Kaspersky Security 5.5 for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 MP3 CF1 compared with Kaspersky Security 5.5 for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 MP3:
- Changes to the application licensing system (support for new types of license keys).
- Improved the error when installing the application on a multi-processor computer (more than 4 processors).
How to update and upgrade the version
Installed version of Kaspersky Security 5.5 MP3 for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 (build 5.5.1333) is upgraded to version of Kaspersky Security 5.5 MP3 for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 automatically once the installer of the new application version is run.
The anti-virus databases are not saved during the upgrade procedure. Once the upgrade is over it is recommended to update the anti-virus databases.
If version Kaspersky Security 5.5 for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 (build 5.5.1000 - 5.5.1315) is installed you are required to fully reinstall the application to install version 5.5.1354.
If Kaspersky Security 5.5 for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 is managed via Kaspersky Administration Kit in this case the Application Control Plugin should be updated manually on all Administration Consoles via which remote management is performed.
The Plugin version should be updated only if Kaspersky Security version 5.5.1315 or below is installed on your computer. If version 5.5.1333 is installed the Plugin should not be updated.
To install the Plugin unload the Administration Console and run the file klcfginst.exe from the Kaspersky Security distributive (once the installation of Kaspersky Security is run, you can find the Plugin installer – the file klcfginst.exe – in the directory C:\kav\<product_name>). This procedure should be performed on all Administration Consoles via which Kaspersky Security is managed remotely.
