How to generate a process dump under Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 (R2)

Sometimes Kaspersky Lab experts might need a dump file of a process for troubleshooting Kaspersky Lab software.

Windows Vista / Windows 7 / Windows 8 / Windows Server 2008 (R2) allow generating a dump file for any process running in the RAM using Windows Task Manager.

Use the userdump.exe utility for Windows XP or Windows Server 2003.

To generate a process dump file:

press Ctrl, Shift and Esc simultaneously;

Disable Self-Defense of Kaspersky Anti-Virus before creating avp.exe process dump file.

right-click the corresponding process in the Processes tab of Windows Task Manager;
choose the Create Dump File option;

wait till the dump file is fully generated;
a box showing the file name and path will appear;
click OK;

close Windows Task Manager.
It is necessary to enable the Show hidden files and folders option to be able to access the folder containing dump files.

Please attach the created dump file to the Technical Support request along with a detailed description of the issue.

Please note that RAM and CPU requirements of the Network Agent, Administration Server and Administration Console are the minimum requirements for installation of these components It is recommended that you use computers with a larger amount of RAM and a greater CPU frequency.
