Implementing Kaspersky anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition in the corporate network includes the following steps:

1. Choose how to manage the Anti-Virus.

Choosing the correct method to manage the Anti-Virus is a preliminary but very important step to implement the application in the corporate network. The decision which Anti-Virus component and applications to install depends on the chosen method(s).

Possible methods to manage the application are the following:

    • locally and/or remotely via the Anti-Virus Console in MMC.

The Management Console is a Snap-In for MMC. The Console can either be installed on the computer with the Anti-Virus or on any other computer in the network. You also can manage protection of several servers with the installed Anti-Virus via one Console.

WarningTo install the Console the Administration Tools component should be installed separately from the anti-virus components.

InformationIf Administration Tools are already installed on the computer, you can simply add “Kaspersky Anti-Virus” Snap-In to any existing MMC Console on the computer.

If Kaspersky Administration Kit 6.0 MP1 CF1 (build 6.0.1565) or above is already installed or is going to be installed in the network, then you can mange the Anti-Virus via any installed Administration Console. For it:

      • install Administration Agent on the protected server to establish connection of the Anti-Virus with the Administration Server. Distributive of the Administration agent goes together with Kaspersky Administration Kit complex.

      • together with the Anti-Virus install Kaspersky Administration Kit Integration module. This module provides connection between the Anti-Virus and the Administration Agent.

      • install Application Control Plug-in on each Administration Console via which you are going to manage the Anti-Virus. The Control Plug-In resides in the anti-virus distributive in the plugin folder.

2. Choose how to install the Anti-Virus and Administration Tools (Anti-Virus Console).

Depending on the type of target servers on which you are going to install the Anti-Virus and the selected methods to manage it, you should define how to install the Anti-Virus and/or Administration Tools:

    • locally,

    • from a command prompt,

    • using Active Directory policies,

    • using the remote install task of in Kaspersky Administration Kit.

You can learn more about methods to install the Anti-Virus components and recommendations how to use these methods in this article

Information The Shell component should be installed if you install only specified Anti-Virus components from the command line and you are planning to manage the Anti-Virus via the command line as well.

3. Setting the application after installation:

    • Configure the Anti-Virus:
      • set the parameters of the databases and modules update tasks: update source, schedule and other parameters. If your server does not have direct access to the Internet, choose another update method

WarningRemember, to provide anti-virus protection of the server regular (hourly) updates of anti-virus databases with the samples of known threats are required!

      • configure exclusion rules in the trusted zone
      • configure settings of the real-time protection task:
      • protection area and other settings.
      • configure settings of the on-demand scan task: scan area, exclusions from scan, schedule and other parameters. You might have to create several tasks to protect the server.
      • configure event log settings of the Anti-Virus events and notifications about them.

Information The same settings can be set in the Anti-Virus policy, if the Anti-Virus is managed via Kaspersky Administration Kit.
