Applies to Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations MP4
To install the program use the Setup Wizard by running the installation file.
You can find the Kaspersky Anti-Virus installation file on the CD/DVD disc you purchased, or you can download it for free from our Web site in the section Product Updates.
The Setup Wizard consists of the following installation steps:
Step 1: The program will verify that your system meets all the requirements to install Kaspersky Anti-Virus.
System requirements to install Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations MP4.
If your operating system does not meet the requirements to install the product, you will get the following message:
Step 2: Wizard Welcome Screen.
Step 3: End User License Agreement.
Step 4: Select the destination folder.
The default destination folder is:
- for 32-bit systems: Disk:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations MP4
- for 64- bit systems: Disk:\Program Files (х86)\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations MP4
You can select another folder by clicking Browse and choosing it in the standard folder selection window or typing it in the corresponding field.
If you specify the complete path to the destination folder manually, its length must not exceed 200 symbols and cannot contain special symbols.
Step 5: You can inherit the system configuration from a previous installation.
This step allows you to select if you want the program to use your previously saved protection settings, program databases, and Anti-Spam bases, if you saved any on your PC when uninstalling a previous version (build) of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0.
Step 6: Please choose the setup type:
Step 7: Select the features you want to be installed.
This step is applicable only if you chose Custom installation in the previous step.
Step 8: Disable Windows Firewall.
The step is applicable if you have Microsoft Firewall enabled on your PC. Please disable Windows Firewall if you want to use the Anti-Hacker component which is an embedded Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 firewall.
Step 9: Scan for other anti-virus software.
In this step the Setup Wizard defines if you have other anti-virus software (including Kaspersky Lab products) installed on your PC which might conflict (“blue screen of death”, some functions of each anti-virus program disabled, etc.) if used together with Kaspersky Anti-Virus.
If such programs are detected on the PC, a list of them will be displayed. You will be prompted to uninstall these programs before proceeding with the installation.
Step 10: Final preparation. The Setup Wizard suggests enabling self-defense of the program and its files.
If you are going to install Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 on your PC for the first time, you are recommended to enable the function Protect the installation process. Enabled protection allows to correctly roll-back the installation in case of an error. It is also recommended to disable this box during a second attempt to install if your first attempt failed.
Step 11: Finish the installation process.
The initial configuration wizard will be started then allowing you to configure scan and update task settings, register the product, etc.
All the settings configured during the installation process may be changed later via the program interface, except the option Disable DNS Cache.
