To uninstall the application via the Setup Wizard:

1. Go to Start > All Programs > Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations/SOS/Windows Servers MP4 > Modify, Repair or Remove. Setup Wizard will start. Choose Remove.
   
2. In the next window, you can choose what data accumulated and used by the program you want to save on your PC.
   

   To delete all data of Kaspersky Anti-Virus, select Complete uninstall.

   To save the necessary data, select Save application objects and check the boxes of the objects you want to save:

   • Keep activation data – key file required for the program to work.
     
   • Keep Anti-Spam database – this database is used for recognition of unsolicited e-mails. It contains the detailed information on what to consider spam.
     
   • Keep backup and quarantine files - this will save backup copies of deleted and disinfected objects. It is recommended to keep such objects in order to restore them later. This option will also save objects possibly infected with viruses or their modifications. Such objects contain a code that resembles a known virus code yet its malicious status cannot be confirmed. It is recommended to keep them because they may prove to be not infected or it may become possible to disinfect them after updating the signature databases.
     
   • Keep application settings – settings for the program and its components. 
     
   • Keep iSwift data – this base contains information about the checked NTFS file system objects. It speeds up object scanning. This database makes Kaspersky Anti-Virus scan only the objects that were modified after the last scanning session.
     

     

       If the period of time between removing one version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus and installing another one was long, you should not use the iSwift database you saved when removing the program. If your PC got infected with a malicious code during that period of time, old database may be unable to detect its actions leading to a virus outbreak on your PC.

   
   
3. To start the uninstallation process, click Next.
   
4. Uninstallation usually requires PC rebooting, as it is necessary to apply system changes. When you are prompted to reboot the PC, select Yes to reboot the PC immediately, or No to reboot it manually later.

1. Go to Start > Control Panel> Programs and Features.
   
2. Select Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations/SOS/Windows Servers MP4 in the list of programs.
   
3. Click Uninstall.
   
4. After removing the program, you may be prompted to reboot your PC. Click Yes to reboot the PC immediately. If you want to reboot the PC later, click No.

You can uninstall the product from the command line, either with user's control (via the Setup Wizard) or in a silent mode.

To uninstall the application from the command line:

• Open the command line prompt.
  
• Enter the following commands:
  
  • msiexec /x <package_name> - run the Setup Wizard to remove the program;
    
  • msiexec /x <package_name> /qn - remove the program in a silent mode without rebooting (you will need to reboot the PC manually after the program is uninstalled);
    
  • msiexec /x <package_name> ALLOWREBOOT=1 /qn - remove the program in a silent mode and reboot the PC after the program is uninstalled.
    

  

• If during the program installation process a password was set to protect the program from removal, you need to indicate that password during uninstallation. Otherwise the uninstallation process will fail:
  
  • msiexec /x <package_name> KLUNINSTPASSWD=****** – uninstall the program using this password to confirm its removal;
    
  • msiexec /x <package_name> KLUNINSTPASSWD=****** /qn – uninstall the program in a silent mode using this password to confirm its removal.

Kaspersky Administration Kit allows starting uninstallation of Kaspersky Anti-Virus remotely and simultaneously on multiple PCs from the administrator's PC. The uninstallation process will not be displayed on these PCs (depends on the Administration Kit settings), and will not distract users from their work.
