Applies to Kaspersky Administration Kit 8.0

  1. Download a Kaspersky Administration Kit 8.0 installation package from the Kaspersky Lab website – version 8.0.2134. The installation package consists of the following files:
    • kasp8.0.2134_adminkiten.exe - Kaspersky Administration Kit 8.0 installer (build 8.0.2134).
    • kasp5.0.0474_netagenten.exe – Network Agent installer build 5.0.0474 for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.6 for ISA Servers 2000 Enterprise Edition remote control.

InformationYou can find a Network Agent version 8.0.2134 MSI installer in the Kaspersky Administration Kit 8.0 installation folder (C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Administration Kit\Share\Packages\NetAgent 8.0.2134).
  2. Create a backup copy of your Administration server version 6.0 using the utility klbackup.exe or an Administration Server Data backup task.

InformationTo be able to restore Administration Server Data, you should save a Server certificate copy (this note only applies to Administration server version 5.0.0474 and earlier – newer versions save the certificate automatically).

  3. Run Kaspersky Administration Kit 8.0 installer on the computer with installed Administration server and upgrade its version. Reverse compatibility between new and old Administration server versions is supported. All the data from the old Administration server will be saved during an upgrade. You will need to reboot the PC after upgrading.

InformationImportant note! Kaspersky Administration Kit 8.0 does not support the Microsoft Windows NT operating system. It is not possible to install Kaspersky Administration Kit 8.0 over version 6.0.

  4. Run Kaspersky Administration Kit 8.0 installer on all other administrator workstations (computers with installed Console without a Server) to upgrade the Administration Console version.

Open a Console, connect to the Server and make sure that policies and tasks have updated correctly.

If a Server has failed to install, reinstall Administration Server and restore from an Administration Server data backup copy.

  5. When you start an Administration console for the first time, a Policies and Tasks Conversion Wizard will start. This uses the existing policies and tasks for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations / Servers MP3 to create new policies for the same applications version 6.0 MP4. The names of policies and tasks created in this way contain the word converted.

The policies and tasks conversion wizard can be started manually by right-clicking the Administration Server in the Console and selecting the command All tasks > Policies and tasks conversion wizard.

  6. Create a Network Agent version 8.0.2134 installation group task for client computers (or a task for specific computers). Run this task by schedule or manually. The Network Agent version will be upgraded on client computers after successful termination of this task.

  7. Create a Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations / Servers MP4 installation task for client computers with installed Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations / Servers MP3. You can merge Items 6 and 7 of this instruction to organize the simultaneous installation of Network Agent and Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Workstations / Servers.

InformationImportant note: Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations / Servers MP4 will not be installed on computers running Microsoft 98/ME/NT. Instead, leave the existing installed Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations / Servers MP3 on such computers.

  8. Configure automatic license distribution on all computers in the logical network. To do this go to the console tree node Repositories > Licenses. Click Add License and indicate a key file path. Make sure that the box Automatically deploy license to managed computers is checked. Click Next and then Finish to terminate the Install License Wizard.

This key will now be automatically deployed on computers with Kaspersky Lab applications authorized to use this license and not having an active key so far.

InformationThere is no need to upgrade the Network Agent version on computers with Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.7 for Novell NetWare, Kaspersky Mobile Security 7.0 Enterprise Edition and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.7 for Linux File Servers\Workstations installed applications. These use special builds of Network Agent integrated into antivirus software to connect to an Administration server.

InformationThere is also no need to upgrade the Network Agent version on computers with Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.6 for ISA Servers 2000 Enterprise Edition installed – Network Agent version 5.0.0474 is used for remote management of this application.

WarningPlease note: You should create SEPARATE policies and tasks for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 MP3 for Windows Workstations / Servers and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 MP4 for Windows Workstations / Servers! Tasks and policies for version 6.0 MP3 do not apply to 6.0 MP4, and vice versa.
Please be aware – these applications are shown separately in the New task wizard:
