An error may sometimes occur when attempting to uninstall Kaspersky Anti-Virus
via Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
As a result, the application will not be uninstalled or will be uninstalled partially.
In these cases, you can use the kavremvr.exe utility as a solution.
The latest version 1.0.555 of the utility supports removal of Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows Critical Fix 2,Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows and Network agent 10.
To use the removal utility:
- download the kavremvr_1_0_555.zip archive containing the utility;
- extract its contents and run the kavremvr.exe file. The utility will automatically identify the application installed on your computer;
- type the displayed code into the field below the picture;
- click the Remove button;
- wait for a dialog box to appear, informing you about a successful application uninstallation;
Attention! The utility removes even password-protected applications.
- click OK and restart the computer.
If the remover utility fails to detect Kaspersky Anti-Virus
in the system while you are sure it is installed and/or there remain any uninstalled modules, you can force uninstallation by choosing the installed application in the drop-down menu and clicking Remove
(as an option you can select <Remove all known products>
To view the detailed information on the removal process, open a file named like kavremvr YYYY-MM-DD HH-MM-SS (pid xxxx).log created in the folder containing kavremvr.exe.
To delete password-protected Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows, run the utility via the command line with the parameter --password-for-uninstall=%password%:
The kavremvr.exe utility can be used with commercial and trial versions of Kaspersky Lab software.
Issues that may occur while using the utility
Related to the products: Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10, Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 CF.
Reason: FDE-encrypted (or scheduled to be FDE-encrypted) drives are detected.
Related to the products: NAgent 10 CF1, Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10, Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 CF.
Reason: password not specified in the command line while the product uninstallation is password-protected.
Related to all products.
Reason: KAVRemover cannot be run from a directory the name of which contains non-ASCII characters from a Windows localization other than the current.
