Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 always detects "PDM:Trojan.Win32.Generic.wcd". What should I do?

If you are receiving a message concerning "Detected threats", specifically relating to PDM:Trojan.Win32.Generic.wcd in Kaspersky Internet Security 2011, this is a misreport and can be easily resolved by performing the following actions:

  1. Open the main application window and on the upper right hand corner of the screen click on "Quarantine" (this is next to the bio hazard icon).

  1. To the right of the quarantine button, click on the small drop down arrow and select "All" from this menu.

  1. Click on the "+" sign right next to Quarantine to expand this category.
  2. Right click on any item(s) referencing to "PDM:Trojan.Win32.Generic.wcd" and select delete or clear from list.

  1. Confirm that you want to delete the report entry and click close.

  1. Run a database update.
  2. Restore the application to its initial state.
