Applies to Kaspersky Security 8.0 for Microsoft Exchange Servers

Kaspersky Security 8.0 for Microsoft Exchange Servers uses a spam weight.

Spam weight is used when adding a DNS name of a server in settings of the services DNSBL and SURBL. The value set for each DNS name of servers may vary between 1 and 100.

Anti-Spam protection settings allow selecting a corresponding spam weight threshold for processed emails.

Minimum – spam weigh is 75
Low – spam weigh is 80
High – spam weigh is 90
Maximum – spam weigh is 100

During an antispam scan of an email, Kaspersky Security 8.0 for Microsoft Exchange Servers assigns kind of a verdict to each email, i.e. a spam weight. First an email is scanned by the Anti-Spam module itself. Then it is processed using user DNSBL and SURBL. The higher the spam weight of a corresponding server DNS name, the higher the chance to process the email as spam. For example:

  • DNSBL reports 100 --> 100 spam weigh is added to Anti-Spam module verdict
  • DNSBL reports 70 --> 40 spam weigh is added to Anti-Spam module verdict
  • DNSBL reports 50 --> 20 spam weigh is added to Anti-Spam module verdict
