Applies to Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Lotus Domino

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Lotus Domino uses the antivirus databases for detecting and disinfecting malware. It is extremely important to maintain antivirus databases in actualized state, because new virus, troyan and other malware appears every day.

Kaspersky Lab recommends update the antivirus databases immediately after installing the application because the databases included into distribution packages become obsolete very quickly. Antivirus database updates should be carried out individually for each server.

Kaspersky Lab servers publish new antivirus databases each hour or so. If you want to find out the information about the current Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Lotus Domino antivirus database state:

  1. Select the Protection control tab in the navigation panel.
  2. Select a server within the profile in the navigation panel.
  3. Select the Antivirus database updates tab in the controls area.

You can see the information about the actual antivirus databases at the top of the tab.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Lotus Domino copies antivirus database updates either from Kaspersky Lab servers via Internet, or from a custom FTP/HTTP/network resource.

The updates are downloaded into the kavcommon\updater service folder. This folder is created during the installation process in the following location:

  • Microsoft Windows operating systems – in the Domino server binary files folder (by default: C:\Program Files\Lotus\Domino);
  • Linux operating systems – in the Domino server data folder (by default: /local/notesdata).

Updates downloaded by one of the servers can be used to update Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Lotus Domino installed on other Domino servers. This is achieved by selecting the kavcommon\updater\retranslation service folder of the first server as the update source on the second server. The location of the folder depends on the operating system type:

  • Microsoft Windows operating systems – in the Domino server binary files folder (by default: C:\Program Files\Lotus\Domino);
  • Linux operating systems – in the Domino server data folder (by default: /local/notesdata).

InformationIn case of using a centralized updates mode, we recommend configuring the KAVCustomUpdUrlOnly=1 value in notes.ini for the servers that will be receiving updates from the selected server.
