How to import/export password database in Kaspersky Password Manager 5.0?

Kaspersky Password Manager 5.0 is able to import and export your passwords databases. You can import both passwords from other password management applications (e.g. Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome), and passwords that you have already exported from Kaspersky Password Manager.

Passwords are exported to .xml.html and .txt files. Kaspersky Password Manager 5.0 can export the Password Database to *.xml, *.html or *.txt files. Export is convenient for opening general access passwords, printing the Password Database, or saving a backup copy of the Password Database to a file in a different format to Kaspersky Password Manager 5.0.

How to export my password database to a file? In order to export your Password Database to a file, perform the following actions:
  1. open the module's context menu
  2. in the context menu of the module, select Password Manager

  1. on bottom right hand corner of the Kaspersky Password Manager window, click on the Export link

  1. on the Password Manager - Data Export Wizard window, select the required export variant:
    • if you wish to export all your accounts, select the Export the whole database variant and click Next

    • if you wish to select accounts to be exported:
      • select the I want to export the selected items variant and click Next

 

      • check the boxes for the required accounts or group of accounts, check the box Exclude login information from exported accoiunts (optional). Click Next

  1. on the Secure export options window, select one of the variants:
    • if you wish to password-protect the file, select Secure export (recommended). Enter a password in the Password and Confirm password fields. You can check the box Use a reminder date if you want to be notified about expiration of exported items (this is optional). Click Next

InformationIf you check the option Exclude login information from exported accounts, then the option Use a reminder date if you want to be notified about expiration of exported items will not be accessible.

 

    • if you wish to save passwords to a file with a specified extension, select Export without encryption. Select the required file extension from the drop-down list (XML fileHTML fileText file). Click on the Next button. On the open dialog window with the message "Information in the exported file will not be encrypted" click OK

  1. on the Secure export destination window, specify the required path to save the file manually or by clicking on the Browse button (with the folder icon)
  2. when the path is specified, click on the Next button

  1. on the Start export window, click on the Export button.

Your data exported successfully.

  1. on the Start export window, click on the Close button.

How to import a password database to Kaspersky Password Manager 5.0?

In order to import Password Database, perform the following actions: 

  1. open the context menu of Kaspersky Password Manager 5.0
  2. in the context menu of the module, select Password Manager

  1. on bottom right hand corner of the Kaspersky Password Manager window, click on the Import passwords link

  1. on the Import Passwords window, select the application from which passwords will be imported and click Import passwords

  1. on the Open Password Manager file window, select the file with passwords that you wish to import, and click Open
  2. perform one of the following actions:
    • if you wish to overwrite the current Password Database and to replace it with the imported one: 
      • click the Overwrite button

      • on the open dialog window window, click OK

      • on the Kaspersky Password Manager window, click on the Save button

 

    • if you wish to merge the Password Database with passwords imported from unprotected password databases: 
      • click on the Merge button

      • on the Import passwords window, check the bxes for required accounts. To select all accounts, check the box next to the selected application
      • click on the Import button

      • on the Kaspersky Password Manager window, click Save
