I have forgotten my master password for Kaspersky Password Manager 5.0. What should I do?

WarningIf you have forgotten or if you have missed your Master Password to unlock Password Manager, then you will not be able to restore the password. As a result, you will not be able to access the database with your passwords and personal data.

However, you can create a new password database with a new master password. In order to create a new password database, perform the following actions:

1. Delete the current password database

In order to do this, perform the following actions:

  1. Exit from the Kaspersky Password Manager 5.0. To do this, right click on the Kaspersky Password Manager icon and select Exit from the open menu.

  1. Delete the file of the current password database. By default, the file is located in the My Documents or Documents folder (located in the user account folder).

2. Create a new password database

In order to do this, perform the following actions:

  1. run Kaspersky Password Manager 5.0. In order to do this click Start - (All) Programs - Kaspersky Password Manager - Kaspersky Password Manager
  2. on the window Error opening Kaspersky Password Manager Password Database select Create new Password Database and click OK

  1. on the New Password Database window, specify the required password in the Password and Confirm password fields
  2. click on the OK button

  1. on the Confirm Master Password window, enter the specified password and click OK
