How to get a process dump in Windows Server 2003

Sometimes to resolve malfunctioning in a Kaspersky Lab product, Technical support experts may need a dump of a process. Microsoft Debug Diagnostic Tool (C) Microsoft is designed to get a dump of any process loaded in the RAM under Windows Server 2003. To get the process dump, perform the following actions:

1. Install Debug Diagnostic Tool on Windows Server 2003

  1. Download the latest version of Debug Diagnostic Tool (C) Microsoft from the Microsoft official site.
  2. Double-click the file, to launch it.
  3. Follow the instructions of the Debug Diagnostic Tool (C) Microsoft setup wizard.
2. Get dump of the required process
  1. Launch Debug Diagnostic Tool (C) Microsoft. For this, perform the following actions:
    • In the bottom left part of the screen click Start. 
    • Select All Programs -> Debug Diagnostic Tool <diagnostic tool version>-> DebugDiag <diagnostic tool version >.
  2. By March 3, 2011, version 1.1 is the latest version of Debug Diagnostic Tool.

  1. In the Select Rule Type window click the Cancel button.
  2. In the Debug Diagnostic Tool window go to the Processes tab.
  3. In the list of processes right-click the process whose dump you need to receive.
  4. In the context menu select Create Full Userdump.


  1. Wait till the dump is created.
  2. In the Debug Diagnostic Tool window remember the path to the dump file and the file name.
  3. Click the OK button.


  1. Close the Debug Diagnostic Tool window.
AVP.EXE is the name of the process for Kaspersky Lab products.
