Applies to Kaspersky Small Office Security 2 for File Server
In order to update Kaspersky Small Office Security 2 for File Serverfrom a local folder, two computers are required. Kaspersky Small Office Security 2 for File Server must be installed on both computers, the application version, for example 9.1.0.59, installed on the computers must coincide. One of the computers must have the Internet connection to update the anti-virus databases from the Kaspersky Lab's servers, the other computer will update the anti-virus databases from a local folder of the computer which has the Internet connection.Kaspersky Small Office Security 2 for File Servercan save updates of threat signatures and program modules to a local source (disc folder, network resource). To update threat signatures or program modules from a local folder and to distribute these update on computer(s) in the local network at least one computer with Internet access is required.
If several copies of
Kaspersky Small Office Security 2 for File Serverare installed in the local network then each copy can be configured to update from a local folder. To configure the product update from a local folder, do the following:
- configure one computer to update from Internet from the Kaspersky Lab's servers
- on this computer create the folder to store the update files and share either this or default folder:
- for Windows Server 2003 the default folder is \ \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Kaspersky Lab\AVP9\Update distribution
- for Windows Server 2008 the default folder is \\ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab\AVP9\Update distribution

By default the folder is hidden. If you want to copy updates into this folder, then you should enbale the option
Show hidden files and folders. See
KB3580, to know how to display hidden files and folders.
Next configure the databases to be copied to a local folder:
- Open the main application window.
- In the left part of the window go to the Update Center tab.
- In the upper right corner of the main window click the Settings link.

- In the right part of the Settings window in the Additional section check the Copy updates to folder box.
- Click the Browse button to define a folder different from the default folder

- In the Select folder window click OK.
- In the Settings window click OK.

- Run update of anti-virus databases.
To update computer(s) in the local network, share the update folder or copy the update folder on target computers. But first configure each target computer the following way:
- Open the main application window.
- In the left part of the window go to the Update Center tab.
- In the upper right corner of the main window click the Settings link.

- In the right part of the Settings window under Update source click the Settings button.
- In the Update settings window on the Source tab click the Add link.

- In the Select update folder window browse the folder into which databases and application modules have been previously saved
- In the Select update folder window click the OK button.

- On the Source tab clear the box Kaspersky Lab’s update servers.
- In the Update settings window click the OK button.

- In the Settings window click the OK button.
- Run update of anti-virus databases.
