If you upgrade your Windows XP to Windows Vista with Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 installed on the computer, at the end of the system upgrade the system rolls back to the previous configuration – i.e. to Windows XP. This problem is connected with the features of the above mentioned OS’s. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 use different drivers for Windows XP and Windows Vista and these drivers are incompatible with each other. As a result migration from one OS to another with Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 installed is impossible. In order to migrate from Windows XP to Windows Vista, perform the following actions:
  1. uninstall the currently installed version of the product (do not forget to save your activation code on the drive which will not be formatted during the OS reinstall).
  2. run installation of Windows Vista
  3. after successful migration to another OS download the latest version of the product from the official site: http://www.kaspersky.com/kav_latest_versions
  4. run the downloaded file
  5. install the latest product version
  6. restart your computer.
