Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 includes a function to determine the security of a file before starting to use it. For example, if you have downloaded a file from the Internet, but are doubtful of how secure it is, you can check its reputation in Kaspersky Security NetworkUse of Kaspersky Security Network databases enables you to obtain the latest information to evaluate the file's reputation, allowing you to assure yourself of the security even of files and programs that appeared only recently.

Information

 To use file security detection, it is necessary to agree to participate in Kaspersky Security Network.

 

To check a file:

  1. Right-click the file that you need to check.
  2. In the context menu, select Check reputation in KSN.

  1. The <Program name> - Kaspersky File Advisor window opens.

The <Program name> - Kaspersky File Advisor window displays the following information:

  • Name of file/program.
  • Name of publisher.
  • Group into which the program has been defined by Application Control or by the majority of Kaspersky Security Network users. 
  • Number of Kaspersky Security Network users using the program.
  • Date of entry in Kaspersky Security Network databases.
  • Program version. 
  • Program size.
  • Date of creation/modification. 
  • Information about digital signature (available when there is a digital signature).
  • Countries in which the program is most widespread.

From the <Program name> - Kaspersky File Advisor window you can also start a manual scan of the file for viruses; to do so, in the lower part of the window click the link Scan the file for viruses...
