How to run a scan task in Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012

Scan is an important component for detecting malicious objects. To protect your computer from threats an viruses, perform scan task regularly. Kaspersky Lab's specialists developed the following virus scan tasks:
  • Full Scan. Full scan is a thorough scan of the entire system. The following objects are scanned by default: system memory, objects loaded on startup, system backup, email databases, hard drives, removable storage media, and network drives. 
  • Critical areas scan. Virus scan of operating system startup objects.
  • Vulnerability scan. Vulnerability scan is a tool which helps to search and eliminate security vulnerabilities of applications, installed on your computer, and in operating system settings.
  • Custom Scan. Custom scan implies scanning of any object selected by the user.

How to start a scan task from the main application window

To start a scan task from the main application window of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012:
  1. Open the main application window.
  2. In the lower part of the window, click Scan.
  3. In the Scan window:
  • If you wish to start a thorough scan of the entire system, then click Start in the Full Scan section.
  • If you wish to start critical areas scan, then click Start in the Vulnerability Scan section.

 The full scan and critical areas scan tasks are specific tasks. It is not recommended to change the list of objects scanned by these tasks. 

 

How to start scan tasks using created shortcuts

You can run scan tasks using the earlier created shortcut.

 

Double-click the shortcut corresponding to the task you would like to start. The scan task will be displayed in the Task Manager window.

 

How to view scan results

After the virus scan task starts, its progress is displayed in the main application window of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012.

 

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 collects the information about the results of the task execution into a report. The main application window contains the information when the scan task was stopped or completed. The time reference is a link to the report window of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012.

You can also view the information concerning scan processes and results in the Task Manager.

How to stop a scan process

To stop the scan process:

  1. Open the main application window.
  2. In the lower part of the window, click on the Scan button.
  3. In the Scan window, click the button corresponding to the task you started.
  4. Click Yes to confirm that you wish to stop the scan process.
