How to remove Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012

To remove Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012, follow the steps below:

  1. To avoid incorrect removal, exit from the application:
    • Right-click the Kaspersky Anti-Virus icon in the lower right corner of the desktop (in the Taskbar notification area).
    • Select Exit.

  2. Remove the application using the Setup Wizard:
    • Click Start.
    • Click (All) programs.
    • Choose Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012.
    • Click Remove Kaspersky Anti-Virus.

  3. Click Remove in the Setup Window.
  4. Select one of the following options:<
    • Complete uninstall. This option allows to fully remove the application. Please note: when this option is selected, all application objects, including remaining license validity period will be removed  from the machine.
    • Save application objects. Select this option if choose you only want to upgrade the application version. Old program files and registry entries will be deleted allowing installation of the new version. The following files will not be removed from your computer: 
      • Activation data
      • Backup and Quarantine files (the option is available only if malicious objects were detected and were backed up during previous sessions)
      • Operational settings of the application (user settings of the Kaspersky Anti-Virus components)
      • Anti-Spam databases (if the Anti-Spam component was deployed and trained while in use)
      • iChecker data (use to accelerate the application work)
      • Safe Run shared folder data
  5. After selecting the removal option, click next to confirm and proceed with the removal process.

  6. Wait until program files and registry keys are removed.
  7. Restart your computer to complete the removal process. The setup wizard will prompt you to restart the computer after the process is completed. Click Yes if you want to restart the computer immediately. Click No if you want to restart the computer manually later.

What to do in case of problems with application removal

If you encounter any issues when removing Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012, create a request to Kaspersky Lab Technical Support via the My Kaspersky service. In the request, describe your problems in all details and attach screenshots of errors and a report created using the GetSystemInfo utility.
