Computer scan for viruses and vulnerabilities is one of the most important task for ensuring computer protection. Suring virus scan the application detects malicious objects which were not detected by malware protection by any reasons.
In Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 you can scan an object (a file, folder or disk) for viruses by three methods:

How to scan an object via the main application window
In order to scan an object via the main application winfow of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012, perform the following actions:
- open the main application window
- in the bottom part of the main application window, select Scan
- perform the following:
- drag an object to the Scan area with the arrow in the window

or
- click the Browse link in the lower part of the main application windowin the Custom Scan window, select the required object to scan. You can also Add/Edit/Delete objects to scan

- if you wish to add an object, then click the Add button. In the Select object to scan window, find and select the required object. Check the Include subfolders box if you wish to scan subfolders.

- click the OK button in the Select object to scan window
- click the OK button in the Custom Scan window.

How to scan an object via its context menu
In order to scan an object for viruses via the Microsoft Windows context menu, perform the following actions:
- right-click the object to scan for viruses
- select the Scan for Viruses from the open context menu

How to view scan report
The Scan process will be displayed in the Task Manager window that will open. The time is also the link to open the Detailed report of Custom Scan.

The Detailed report of Custom Scan contains information about scan processes, list of detected threats and links to their description.
