If during installation of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 you receive the message "The selected folder or drive already contains files. The application cannot be installed" please follow the steps below to resolve this error:
To resolve the situation perform the following actions:
Select one of the 2 methods:
- manually remove Kaspersky Lab installation folder.
- change the installation location of Kaspersky Lab 2012 product
Method 1:
Manually delete the Kaspersky Lab installation folder the following way:
- Open My Computer (on PCs with Windows Vista or 7, this is called just Computer)
- Open the drive lettered C: (if you have a custom Windows installation, select your system drive)
- Open Program Files (In Vista or 7 64-bit versions, select Program Files (x86))

- In the Program Files folder, delete the folder called Kaspersky Lab
- Select the Kaspersky Lab folder
- Press the Delete key on the keyboard
- In the Delete Folder window click Yes, to delete the folder
or
- Right-click the Kaspersky Lab folder
- In the context menu select Delete
- In the Delete Folder window click Yes, to delete the folder

If the installation directory differs from the Windows OS default installation directory (i.e. different from the Program Files directory), then find the Kaspersky Lab folder in this directory and delete it.
Try to install Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 once again.
Method 2:
Restart the installation of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 and change the installation path the following way:
- Double-click the executable file (with the exe. extension). As a result the Setup Wizard of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 is started.
- In the left bottom corner of the Setup Wizard check the box Change installation settings and click Next to continue.
- Thoroughly read the License Agreement and if you agree with all points in it select I accept. Program installation on your computer will continue. Click Cancel to cancel the installation.
- The Setup Wizard suggests participation in Kaspersky Security Network. If you participate in the program, Kaspersky Lab will receive information about new threats, detected on your computer. As well as system information and a unique identifier will be specified for your computer by Kaspersky Anti-Virus. Please note that no personal data will be gathered or sent within this process. Read the Data Collection Statement about using Kaspersky Security Network. If you agree with all the terms, check I accept the terms of participation in Kaspersky Security Network. Click Install button to proceed with the installation.
- On the Destination Folder window (below), change the installation folder name from Kaspersky Lab to Kaspersky Labs and click Next

- Follow the remaining prompts to install the software
