What is Self-defense

Self-defense is a component that protects Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows against malware that may try to block its functions or uninstall it.

Self-defense prevents the following activity:
  • modify/delete Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows files, antivirus databases, quarantined files, trace files;
  • modify/delete Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows system registry keys;
  • terminate application processes.

Information If there is Microsoft Windows Vista 64 bit installed, protection against modifying/deleting application files and registry keys is available.

How to enable/disable Self-defense on a local host

Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows self-defense mechanism is enabled by default. It can be disabled if necessary.

How to enable/disable the Self-defense mechanism:
  • Open the main application settings window.

  • Select Advanced settings in the left frame.

  • Check/uncheck the Enable Self-defense box, as necessary.
