The article gives recommendations that will help to minimize the effect caused by the anti-virus software on the system efficiency and the network. These recommendations are applying only for Kaspersky Lab products installed on the computer running under Microsoft Windows XP / Vista / 7.
It is recommended not to scan for viruses files and folders given below. These files and folders do not undergo the threat of being infected by viruses. As the files are blocked during the scan, the scan procedure can greatly decrease system efficiency. The following files can be excluded from the scan:
Disabling scan of Windows Update or services of automatical files update
The symbol "*" in the Res*.jrs and Res*.log files means that there may be a number of such files.
Disabling scan of Windows security files
You can find detailed instructions on how to add files to the list of exclusions in Kaspersky Lab Knowledge Base:
Release of antivirus database updates (required to protect your computer/server/mobile device).
Limited technical support is provided over phone and web for commercially licensed customers.
Release of patches for the application (addressing detected bugs).
