Applies to Kaspersky Security Center 9

  1. Download a Kaspersky Security Center 9 installation package from the Kaspersky Lab website – version 9.2.69.
  2. Create a backup copy of your Administration server version 8.0 using the utility klbackup.exe or an Administration Server Data backup task

    align=left To be able to restore Administration Server Data, you should save a Server certificate copy.

  3. Run Kaspersky Security Center 9 installer on the computer with installed Administration server and upgrade its version.

    align=leftImportant note! Kaspersky Security Center 9 does not support the MS SQL 2000 (MSDE 2000).

  4. Create a Network Agent version 9.2.69 installation group task for client computers (or a task for specific computers). Run this task on schedule or manually. The Network Agent version will be upgraded on client computers once the task completes.

    align=left If the Administration group contains more then 100 computers the most powerfull computer with the Network Agent installed will automatically become the Update Agent.

  5. Run Kaspersky Security Center 9 installer on all other administrator workstations (computers with installed Console without a Server) to upgrade the Administration Console version.

    Open a Console, connect to the Server and make sure that policies and tasks have updated correctly.

    If a Server has failed to install, reinstall Administration Server and restore from an Administration Server data backup copy.

  6. When you start an Administration console for the first time, run a Policies and Tasks Conversion Wizard (right click on "Administration Server" node and select "All tasks" -> "Policies and Tasks Conversion Wizard"). This uses the existing policies and tasks for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 MP4 for Windows Workstations / Servers to create new policies for the same applications version 8. The names of policies and tasks created in this way contain the word "converted".

  7. Create a Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows installation task for client computers with installed Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 MP4 for Windows Workstations / Servers.

align=left We recommend:

  • Creating relocation rules for servers and workstations according to OS type.

  • Configuring administration groups and reassign servers and workstations in these groups after installing Network Agents.

  • Creating a Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows installation task for each group.

  • Assigning an active policy for each group.
