On 19 December 2011 Kaspersky Lab announced the release of patch B for Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows version (a).



  • Fixed the error that sometimes prevented blocking of application startup by the Application Startup Control component.
  • Fixed the error with frequent floppy and CD-ROM checks on client hosts.
  • Fixed the product crash when scanning the traffic from certain web sites.
  • Fixed incompatibility with asmtxhci.sys driver resulting in BSOD after installing the product.
  • File scan no longer outputs read errors when accessing certain files.
  • Fixed incorrect performance of the "Suspend scheduled scanning when the screensaver is off and the computer is unlocked" option.
  • Fixed the error with the disk scan utility not running when booting the system after executing the chkdsk /f command.
  • Local update tasks no longer log a "Task cannot run. Error code: 80099001" error after applying a policy in Kaspersky Security Center 9.

Installing via Kaspersky Security Center 9

Patch B gets installed automatically if you have the Update application modules option enabled in the properties of the group update task (Properties section).

Local installation

Open application settings, go to Scheduled tasks > Update, and make sure the Update application modules option is enabled. Then Patch B will be installed automatically.

How to check if patch B is installed
  • Locally

    After installing patch B, application version changes to (a, b).

    You can view the application version by clicking Support in the lower part of Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows main window.

    The following file versions change after installing patch B:

    • For 32-bit systems in C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows\.
    • For 64-bit systems in C:\Program Files (x86)\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows\.

      • acassembler.dll
      • processmonitor.dll
      • procmon.ppl
      • bl.ppl

    • In tC:\Windows\System32\drivers\klif.sys

  • In the Administration Console

    Generate a Kaspersky Lab software version report and find the Updates installed column. If there is no such column, open the report properties, go to the Detail fields section and add the Updates installed field.
