Kaspersky PURE 2.0: release of Critical Fix 2 (version 12.0.2.733)

On October 5, 2012 Kaspersky Lab released Critical Fix 2 for Kaspersky PURE 2.0. Full version number: 12.0.2.733.

What's new in Kaspersky PURE 2.0 (version 12.0.2.733):

  • Improved stability on supported operating systems.
  • MS Windows 8 has been added to the list of supported operating systems.
  • Scenario of upgrading to Windows 8 has been added.
  • Support of new versions of web browsers (Mozilla Firefox 9-15Google Chrome 17-21) by application modules has been added.
  • Anti-Phishing has been improved.
  • Cloud-enabled protection has been enhanced considerably. The cloud technology in combination with conventional signature-based methods provides a high level of security for computers, whether or not they have a permanent Internet connection.
  • Update process has been improved. Update process concedes access priority to hard disk to other applications.
  • Configuration of the Backup and RestoreParental ControlHome Network Control and Data Encryption components has been simplified to provide ease of use for people with different levels of computer literacy.
  • Password Manager has been improved and upgraded.

What's fixed:

  • USB devices work error appeared when upgrading to new versions of the application has been fixed.
  • Encrypted containers disconnection errors have been fixed.
  • Error appeared when integrating Kaspersky URL AdvisorAnti-BannerVirtual Keyboard and Password Manager to web browsers has been fixed.
  • Configured Password Manager autorun disabling problems have been eliminated.
  • Large files (more than 2 GB) permanent deletion error has been fixed.

Main known issues:

  • Some application windows do not support Microsoft standard key-combinations.
  • Errors appeared when copying updates to a non-existed folder.
  • In some cases, characters cannot be entered using the Virtual Keyboard in entry fields of web browsers or applications.
  • The maximum size limit for Quarantine and Backup does not work.
  • Password Manager does not work in the Safe Run for Applications and Safe Run for Websites modes.
  • Application shortcuts are not removed automatically from the desktop when the application is removed.
  • When a file in a folder added to the list of Backup and Restore folders is renamed, its backup copies will not be created.
  • Virtual Keyboard is displayed on screenshots.
  • Adding application restrictions to Parental Control via the Home Network Control module is not available.

To install Critical Fix 2, perform the following actions:

  1. Download the 12.0.2.733 version from the official Kaspersky Lab website.
  2. Run the downloaded file.
  3. Install the latest product version "on top" of the current version.
