Web Anti-Virus protects your computer against data coming into your computer via the HTTP and FTP protocols, and also prevents dangerous scripts from being executed on the computer.
In Kaspersky PURE 2.0 you can configure the protection scope and enable scripts scan.
By default, Web Anti-Virus scans HTTP / FTP traffic and scripts simultaneously.
Script is a special program or script file which performs specific instructions according to "scenario". Scripts are usually embedded to a web page as extensions which will be executed once the web page is opened. Scripts are used to provide normal page display. Malicious scripts are used to load a special program (exploit) which uses system vulnerabilities to access personal data.
How to configure the protection scope
You can create a list of trusted web addresses the content of which will not be scanned by Web Anti-Virus. In order to create a list of trusted web addresses, perform the following actions:
- open the main application window
- on the upper right hand corner of the main application window, click Settings
- on the upper left hand corner of the Settings window, select Protection
- on the left hand part of the Settings window, select Web Anti-Virus
- on the right hand part of the Settings window, click the Settings button
- on the Web Anti-Virus window, go to the Trusted URLs tab and check the Do not scan web traffic from trusted URLs box
- to create the list click the Add button
- on the Address mask (URL) enter a trusted web address
- click the OK button
- follow the instructions mentioned above and create the list of trusted web addresses, then in the Web Anti-Virus window click the OK button
- on the Settings window click the OK button
- close the main application window.

How to enable scripts scan
If the Block dangerous scripts in Microsoft Internet Explorer box is checked, then each script run on a web page and WSH-scripts (JavaScript, Visual Basic Script etc.) are intercepted by Web Anti-Virus and analyzed for malicious codes. In order to enable the scripts scan, perform the following actions:
- open the main application window
- on the upper right hand corner of the main application window, click Settings
- on the upper left hand part of the Settings window, select Protection
- on the left hand part of the Settings window, select Web Anti-Virus
- on the right hand part of the Settings window, click the Settings button
- on the Web Anti-Virus window on the General tab in the Additional section, make sure that the Block dangerous scripts in Microsoft Internet Explorer box is checked
- click on the OK button
- on the Settings window, click on the OK button
- close the main application window.
