The Custom scan task allows selecting particular virtual machines to scan.

How to create a Custom scan task:
  • Open the Kaspersky Security Center administration console, expand the Managed computers node and select the KSC cluster hosting the virtual machines to create the scan task for.

  • Open the Tasks tab in the right frame and click Create a task:

  • Enter the task name in the new task wizard and click Next.

  • Select Kaspersky Security 1.1 for Virtualization and Custom scan task type, and click Next.

  • Enter Kaspersky Security Center to VMware vCenter Server connection properties and click Next:

    • VMware vCenter Server address (IPv4 address or FQDN).
    • User name – the account used for connecting to VMware vCenter Server. Requires a permission to read VMware control objects.
    • Password.

  • Choose the virtual machines to run the selected VM scan task:
If there is more than one VM with the same vm-ID in the VMware infrastructure, only one of them is displayed in the object tree. However if you include it into the scan task, all the VMs sharing the same vm-ID will be scanned.

  • Configure the security settings:

    • Security level:

      • High – use when there is a high probability of infecting the virtual machines.
      • Recommended – good balance between security and performance. Ideal for the majority of situations.
      • Low – use when there is very low chance of infecting the virtual machines. The security level is lowered thus liberating additional system resources.
