The frequency with which Kaspersky Anti-Virus attempts to download updates when run Automatically depends on the data in the updcfg.xml file.

Updcfg.xml is a file located at an update source. It schedules the application to run the antivirus update task as follows:
  • The application runs the update task two hours after a successful update attempt;

  • or 20 minutes after an unsuccessful attempt.

The possibility to set a desired update frequency allows Kaspersky Lab specialists to control the situation in difficult circumstances such as a virus outbreak.

In this case, the application will receive the latest updates of antivirus and anti-hacker databases, and application modules.
