How to save Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows antivirus databases during system reinstallation or while moving the application to another computer
This article concerns the following versions of Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows:
- Service Pack 2 Maintenance Release 4 (version 10.3.3.304)
- Service Pack 2 Maintenance Release 3 (version 10.3.3.275)
- Service Pack 2 Maintenance Release 2 (10.3.0.6294)
- Service Pack 2 Maintenance Release 1 (version 10.3.0.6294)
- Service Pack 2 (version 10.3.0.6294)
When you reinstall the operating system or move Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows to a new computer, you can save the databases in the following ways:
- Save the files locally through the interface
- Remotely through Kaspersky Security Center 10
- Using Kaspersky Update Utility
How to save the databases locally through the interface
Before reinstalling the operating system or switching to a new computer, do the following:
- Open Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows.
- Go to the Settings tab and select Scheduled tasks → Update.
- Select the checkbox Copy updates to folder.
- If you want to save the updates to a custom folder, click Browse and specify the folder.
- Click Save.
- Run the update task. For instructions, see this article.
- Save the folder with updates to a network folder or a removable media.
After reinstalling the operating system or switching to a new computer, install Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows and select the folder with updates as an update source. To learn how to select an update source, see this Online Help article.
We do not recommend copying the bases folder to a different computer. It may result in update errors.
How to save the databases using Kaspersky Security Center 10
Database updates are stored centrally in Kaspersky Security Center. At the next start of the update task on the Administration Server, Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10.x for Windows will download the updates from C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Security Center\Share\Updates. No additional adjustments of Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10.x for Windows settings are required after reinstalling the operating system or switching to a new computer.

Kaspersky Update Utility allows saving the bases and patches to a local folder, network folder or removable media. For instructions, see this article.
