Scanning the computer for viruses and vulnerabilities is one of the most important tasks in ensuring the computer's security. It is necessary to scan your computer for viruses on a regular basis in order to rule out the possibility of spreading malicious programs that have not been discovered by security components. Vulnerability scan performs the diagnostics of operating system and detects software features that can be used by intruders to spread malicious objects and obtain access to personal information.
Kaspersky PURE 3.0 includes a special option Perform Idle Scan. the option is designed to allow running resource-intensive tasks (for example, scheduled scan) while the computer is idle.
In cases when your computer is battery-powered scan will not be performed when your computer is idle.
Tasks, performed while your computer is idle, are the following:
Idle Scan is performed in cases when a user is logged off or locks a computer. Also Idle Scan is performed when screen saver is more than 5 minutes.
At the first step, a Kaspersky PURE 3.0 product checks the anti-virus databases and application modules release date. The update process is run only If the application databases are out of date.
Immediately after update, the application runs the scan task applied to startup objects, system memory and system partition.
If you resume the computer usage, the application pauses the update process or computer scan. The application remembers the stage at which the scan task has been paused, and resumes the scan process from that stage.
If the anti-virus databases update process has been interrupted, next time, the application restarts update.
In order to enable the Idle Scan mode, perform the following actions:
Release of antivirus database updates (required to protect your computer/server/mobile device)
Providing technical support over phone / web
Release of patches for the application (addressing detected bugs)
