Kaspersky Anti-Virus version 6.0 is software programs which provide computer protection against malicious programs and they in their turn become objects of interest for malicious software which try to block the program form working or even uninstall it from the computer.
Besides a computer can be used by several users with different levels of computer literacy. Unrestricted access to the program and its settings can noticeably decrease computer security level in general.
To protect the program from unauthorized access to Kaspersky Anti-Virus version 6.0 the Enable Protection function has been added. To see the function statistics, do the following:
- Open the main application window of Kaspersky Anti-Virus version 6.0
- In the Protection section in the right part of the window click the Statistics section

The following information is displayed for each attempt to get access to Kaspersky Anti-Virus version 6.0 process on the Events tab
- PID of the process which tried to get access to AVP.EXE process
- PID of AVP.EXE process
- Time and date when the access was attempted
PID – is a personal identity number which is given by Windows operating systems to launched processes in the current session of the OS. PID is unique for each launched process. But process PID is changed with every new OS session. If the computer was restarted or switched off for some time then by next boot PID for each process is different.
To know which process tried to get access to AVP.EXE process, do the following:
- On the keyboard press the buttons Ctrl, Shift and Esc simultaneously
- In the open Windows Task-Manager window go to the Processes tab
- From the task bar select View
- In the drop-down menu select Select columns…
- In the open dialog window check PID (process identifier)
- Click OK

Once the actions are executed the PID column is added on the Processes tab in the Windows Task-Manager window. Now you can see which process tried to get access to AVP.EXE process of Kaspersky Anti-Virus version 6.0.
But remember that programs and utilities of other vendors scan the operating system to get detailed information about the launched programs, processes, etc. This information is needed for correct work of these programs and utilities. Self-protection of Kaspersky Anti-Virus version 6.0 has been developed to give any other program of a side-vendor minimum of the required information, i.e. practically any activity of such program is logged as an attempt to get access to AVP.EXE process and program files of Kaspersky Anti-Virus version 6.0.
If you do not know the process which tried to get access to AVP.EXE process and the process is not system one or does not belong to program of another vendor it is recommended to contact Kaspersky Lab Technical Support via the HelpDesk Form.
