Concerning to Kaspersky Internet Security 2009
Kaspersky Lab experts have developed a plug-in (an extension module) which allows managing the Anti-Spam module from the interface of Mozilla Thunderbird.
Once Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 is installed, the plug-in “substitutes” the embedded standard anti-spam engine in Mozilla Thunderbird. The plug-in is responsible for sending mail messages to Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 service on request of the user. All incoming mail by the POP3 protocol is checked by the traffic-monitor from Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 for spam and is then given to the mail client Mozilla Thunderbird immediately after check. Mail messages recognized as spam are marked as [!!Spam] and given to the mail client anyway. A customer can create a filtering rule for messages marked as spam (for example, delete or relocate messages with the [!!Spam] marker into a separate folder) in the interface of the mail client.
Together with the plug-in for the mail client Mozilla Thunderbird, a module responsible for working status of the Anti-Spam component is installed.
- the Anti-Spam component is installed, launched, mail filtering functions.
- the Anti-Spam component is either not installed, malfunctions, or mail filtering is temporarily stopped.
Double-click the module icon, to open properties of the Anti-Spam component.
In Mozilla Thunderbird settings (the Tools menu > Add-ons) you can disable the graphic interface of the plug-in.
When disabling the plug-in for Mozilla Thunderbird, the Anti-Spam component is not disabled and continues filtering mail.
How to register the plug-in in the OS manually
If by some reasons plug-in for the mail client Mozilla Thunderbird is not displayed in the program interface and/or malfunctions (for example, if Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 was installed first and the mail client was installed afterwards) in this case it is recommended to register the plug-in in the operating system manually:
- Go to Start > Run
- In the Open field enter regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Internet Security 2009\asppp.dll"
- Click OK
- Make sure the library asppp.dll has been successfully registered in the system
- Enable the product self-defense
- Restart Mozilla Thunderbird
If you also want to use Anti-Spam embedded in Mozilla Thunderbird, you should register the plug-in in the operating system:
- Go to Start > Run
- In the Open field enter regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Internet Security 2009\asppp.dll"
- Click OK
- Make sure the library asppp.dll has been successfully registered in the system
- Enable the product self-defense
- Restart Mozilla Thunderbird
