While activating Kaspersky Lab's product version 2009 with an activation code, you receive the message: License type is not compatible with this application
When trying to activate Kaspersky Lab's product version 2009 with an activation code, the following message might be displayed:
The reason for this error message is that you are trying to activate the product with an activation code for another product. This means you have an activation code for Kaspersky Internet Security 2009, but are installing Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 (or vice versa). You cannot use an activation code designed for one product on a different one.
If you are installing Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 and you received this error message, then you have an activation code for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009.
If you are installing Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 and you received this error message, then you have an activation code for Kaspersky Internet Security 2009.
You can tell which version you have installed by opening the main application window for your Kaspersky software and noting the product name in the top left corner of the screen:
If you cannot open the main application window, go to Start > All programs > in the list of programs find Kaspersky Lab's product and compare the name of the installed product.
In order to correct this error, please perform the following actions:
remove the currently installed product (click Start - All programs - Kaspersky Internet Security or Kaspersky Anti-Virus - Modify, Repair or Remove - Remove)
