Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations (all builds)
This article applies to Kaspersky Internet Security version 6.0/7.0/2009 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations MP2/MP3/MP4 only if the Anti-Hacker (firewall) component is not installed and is not used together with a firewall of another vendor.
The following problems may occur when a Kaspersky Lab product works with a firewall of another vendor:
cannot send / receive e-mails
internet pages are not (fully) loaded
computer disconnects from Internet either immediately or soon after establishing a connection
The reason is that Kaspersky Lab applications version 6.0\7.0\2009 are functioning in server mode. They re-route all Internet and e-mail traffic to itself in order to scan it and establish Internet connection with server. It is necessary to have correctly configured rules for the service AVP.EXE in the firewall.
If the installed firewall has a learning mode, enable it. If the AVP.EXE service tries to establish connection, the firewall should inform the user about it. Allow any network activity to the service AVP.EXE.
