  • A great number of new threats appear worldwide on an everyday basis. In order to facilitate gathering the statistics about new threat types, their source and developing the method to be used for their elimination, Kaspersky Lab allows you to use the Kaspersky Security Network service.

    The use of Kaspersky Security Network involves sending the following information to Kaspersky Lab

    • A unique identifier assigned to your computer by Kaspersky Lab's application. This identifier characterizes the hardware settings of your computer and does not contain any personal information. 
    • Information about threats detected by the application's components. Information structure and contents depends on the type of the threat detected. 
    • System information: operating system's version, installed service packs, downloadable services and drivers, browser and mail client versions, browser extensions, number of the Kaspersky Lab's application installed.

    The gathered information allows Kaspersky Lab’s experts: 

    • Quickly react to appearance of new malicious programs and add them to the application’s anti-virus databases 
    • Quickly react to new types of spam and add them to the anti-spam databases 
    • Analyze the set of applications installed on the user’s computer and warn the user about vulnerabilities in these applications

    Warning Kaspersky Security Network does not collect, process or store user's personal data.

     

    In order to enable sending the statistics in Kaspersky Security Network:

    • Open the application setting window. 
    • Click the Settings button
    • Select the Feedback section in the left part of the window. 
    • Check the I agree to participate in Kaspersky Security Network box. 
    • Click the OK button 
    • Click Yes to confirm your participation 
    • Minimize the main application window

    Apart from the information about threats the application contains extended statistics: information about the executable files you downloaded, signed applications and about applications run on your computer. In order to enable sending of the extended statistics:

    • Open the application setting window. 
    • Click the Settings button 
    • Select the Feedback section in the left part of the window.
    • Check the I agree to send extended statistics within the framework of Kaspersky Security Network
    • Click the OK button 
    • Click Yes to confirm your participation 
    • Minimize the main application window

    Warning Kaspersky Security Network does not collect, process or store user's personal data.

     

    InformationThe dialog windows for Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 are the same but with corresponding product names.
