Once Norton software has been uninstalled and your computer has been rebooted you might not have access to the Internet pages. The reason is the Norton uninstaller does not fully remove their software.

In order to fully uninstall Norton anti-virus, follow the instructions below:

Solution 1: Automatically delete Norton anti-virus:

  • in the bottom left corner click the Start button
  • perform the following actions:
    • for Windows XP:
      • select the Control Panel item

      • in the Control Panel window click Add or Remove programs

    • for Windows Vista and Windows 7:
      • select the Contorl Panel item

      • in the Control Panel window click Programs

      • in the Programs window select Programs and components

  • in the list of programs select Norton anti-virus
  • perform the following actions:
    • for Windows XP:
      • click the button Change/Remove (if you are offered to remove some common files click the button Yes, for all)
    • for Windows Vista and Windows 7:
      • double-click the application name
      • in the Programs and components window click the Yes button
  • in the Setup Wizard window click the link to delete all user files, passwords and quarantined files
  • click the Next button. Application removal may take several minutes
  • you will be asked to restart your computer to completely uninstall Norton anti-virus from your computer
  • click the Restart button in the Setup Wizard window.

Try to install your Kaspersky Lab product once again.

As a result Norton anti-virus will be removed from your computer. If Norton anti-virus has been successfully removed from your computer you do not need to perform the following steps. If an error message informs that Norton anti-virus removal was unsuccessful you will have to delete Norton anti-virus manually.

Solution 2: Manually delete Norton anti-virus:

Follow the instructions below to remove AVG8 anti-virus manually. After you perform all the actions, AVG8 will be fully uninstalled.

Information Please note this tool will remove ALL Norton software from your PC. The utility scans your computer for files and registry entries which have not been removed by Windows means during the Norton software uninstallation.

In order to manually remove the software, use the uninstallation tool  AVG8_Kleaner:

  • download the archive Norton Removal Tool
  • unpack the archive. You can do it using, for example, WinZip
  • in the Norton Removal Tool window, click the Next button

  • in the Norton Removal Tool (Licensing) window, select I accept the License Agreement
  • click the Next button

  • in the window Norton Removal Tool (Security Check), enter the text from the picture in the field below
  • click the Next button

  • in the window Norton Removal Tool (About to Begin Removal), click the Next button. The removal process cannot be stopped and may take several minutes

  • to successfully uninstall Norton anti-virus, you are required to restart your computer
  • click the Restart button to reboot your computer.

Try to install your Kaspersky Lab product once again.
