How to uninstall Norman Virus Control?

  • Sometimes after removal of Norman Virus Control with the standard means and the computer restart some records may still remain in the system registry and prevent a Kaspersky Lab product from installation.

    In order to fully uninstall Norman Virus Control and its records from the system registry, use the following resolutions:

    Resolution 1. Uninstalling Norman Virus Control with standard Microsoft Windows means

      Step 1. In the bottom left corner click the Start button.

      Step 2. Perform the following actions:

      • for Windows XP:
        • select the Control Panel item

        • in the Control Panel window click Add or Remove programs

      • for Windows Vista:
        • select the Control Panel item

        • in the Control Panel window click Programs

        • in the Programs window select Programs and Features

    Step 3. In the list of programs select the Norman Virus Control.

    Step 4. Perform the following actions:

    • for Windows XP:
      • click the button Change/Remove
      • in the dialog window that will open, confirm that you want to uninstall the application by clicking the Yes button
    • for Windows Vista:
      • double-click the application name
      • confirm that you want to uninstall the application by clicking the Yes button

    Step 5. The uninstallation process starts. Wait until the process is completed.

    Step 6. In order to fully remove Norman Virus Control, you will be asked to restart your computer. In the Norman Virus Control window, you will see the following message: "You must restart your system for the configuration changes made to Norman Virus Control to take effect. Click Yes to restart now or No if you plan to rеstart later". In order to restart your computer immediately after the uninstallation, click the Yes button

    Step 7. Try to install your Kaspersky Lab product version once again. If Norman Virus Control has been successfully uninstalled from your computer, you do not need to perform the following steps.

    If Norman Virus Control has been successfully uninstalled from your computer, you do not need to perform the following steps.

    As a result Norman Virus Control will be removed from your computer. If Norman Virus Control has been successfully removed from your computer you do not need to perform the following steps. If an error message informs that the Norman Virus Control removal was unsuccessful you will have to delete Norman Virus Control manually.

    Resolution 2. Uninstalling Norman Virus Control using Delnvc5.exe

    To remove Norman Virus Control, use a special Norman Virus Control removal tool Norman Delnvc5.exe (DELNVC5 (C) Norman ASA). In order to uninstall Norman Virus Control, perform the following actions:

    Step 1. Download the tool Delnvc5.exe.

    Step 2. Run the file Delnvc5.exe.

    Step 3. In the Remove Norman Virus Control from your computer? window select the Remove option.

    Step 4. In the Remove Norman Virus Control from your computer? window click the Next button.

    Step 5. The uninstallation process starts. Wait until the process is completed.

    Step 6. After Norman Virus Control is uninstalled, you will be asked to restart your computer. In the Remove Norman Virus Control from your computer? window click the Restart now button to restart your computer and finish the uninstallation of Norman Virus Control.

    Step 7. Try to install your Kaspersky Lab product once again.

    What to do, if the actions above did not help

    If all remains of your previous anti-virus software were removed, or you have not had any anti-virus software installed on your computer, but you cannot install a Kaspersky Lab product, then create a request to Kaspersky Lab Technical Support via the My Kaspersky Account service. Attach to your request a report created using Getsysteminfo.

    In the request, do not forget to describe the problem and actions which are required to be performed to reproduce the problem in all details.
