KL 103.55: Kaspersky Security for Microsoft Exchange Server

This course covers implementing and managing anti-virus and anti-spam protection of Microsoft Exchange Server 2000/2003 based on Kaspersky Lab products.

Chapter 1. General Information The chapter discusses the purpose of anti-virus protection software for e-mail systems and their place in the anti-virus protection system of the entire organization. The last section is devoted to available Kaspersky Lab products for Microsoft Exchange Server
Chapter 2. Getting Started The chapter covers installation of Kaspersky Security for Microsoft Exchange Server, testing the installation and updating anti-virus and anti-spam databases
Chapter 3. Managing Protection This chapter describes Microsoft Exchange Server protection modes and settings available in Kaspersky Security
Chapter 4. Notifications, Reports and Logs Here the questions of monitoring and troubleshooting of the protection system are covered. The chapter explains how to use simple notifications, notifications about virus outbreaks, reports, logs and performance counters
Chapter 5. Centralized Management The last chapter is devoted to centralized management of Kaspersky Security using Kaspersky Administration Kit. It describes how Kaspersky Security is represented in the Kaspersky Administration Kit interface and what additional features Kaspersky Administration Kit provides


The course includes two sorts of learning materials. The theoretical part is a presentation, which explains the principles of how Kaspersky Security works, and the recommendations on how it should be used. The practical part describes the interface and the settings of Kaspersky Security and shows how to perform typical tasks using the interface. You can experience the practical part as a demonstration or as an interactive tutorial. Both theory and practice are voiced.


Student Prerequisites


This course requires that students have some practical experience of using Microsoft Exchange and administering of Microsoft Windows computers. Knowledge of common computer and networking terms, including Internet and e-mails are also required.


System Requirements


To fully experience this training you need the following:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later
  • Flash Player 8 or later
  • Minimum display resolution 1024×768 (1280×960 is recommended)
  • Sound card, speakers or a headphones for listening to voice-over

NB: If access to the course is granted, but flash movies are not downloaded properly, please ensure that outbound TCP connections to the port 8080 are not blocked by any kind of Firewall (local or on the gateway).
