If you purchased a box version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013 (on a CD) the product installation should start automatically after CD insertion into a CD-ROM, go directly to step 2 of program installation (see below).

If you purchased Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013 from the eStore or installing from a CD did not start automatically after inserting the CD into the CD-ROM, go to step 1 of program installation (see below). 

Program installation

Step 1: If you purchased Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013 on a disc, then the installation process starts automatically after the Setup disc is inserted into the CD-ROM drive. If you have purchased the product from the E-Store you get a link to an installation file which should be launched manually. If the Setup disc does not run automatically you will need to run the installation file manually.

Download the program distributive following the link in the email message from the eStore or from the Kaspersky Lab site. You can find the information on how to download the file on the following pages:

• for users of Windows 8;
• for users of Windows 7;
• for users of Windows Vista.  

Step 2: To start installation, in the Setup Wizard window click the Install button.

Read the End User License Agreement of Kaspersky Lab by clicking the End User License Agreement link. If you agree with all the terms click the Back button and follow the installation instructions. If you do not agree with the terms, stop the installation by closing the Setup Wizard (to close the wizard, click the cross button in the top right corner). The Setup Wizard also suggests participation in Kaspersky Security Network. If you participate in the program, Kaspersky Lab will receive information about new threats, detected on your computer. As well as system information and a unique identifier will be specified for your computer by Kaspersky Internet Security. Please note that no personal data will be gathered or sent within this process. Read the KSN agreement about using Kaspersky Security Network. If you agree with all the terms, check I want to participate in Kaspersky Security Network (KSN) to provide optimal protection for my computer. If you do not want to participate in Kaspersky Security Network, uncheck the box  I want to participate in Kaspersky Security Network (KSN) to provide optimal protection for my computer.

Click the Install button to proceed with the installation.

If you install the application on your computer working under Windows Vista / 7, then a message from the User Account Control service may appear. In order to continue the installation, click the Yes button.

 

Step 3: Wait until the application is installed.

Step 4: Make sure that Start Kaspersky Anti-Virus is checked and click the Finish button to complete the installation process.

Once the application is installed you are required to activate commercial version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus.

How to install the program from the command prompt

In order to install Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013 from the command prompt, do the following:

Step 1. Download the program distributive following the link in the email message from the eStore or from the Kaspersky Lab site. You can find the information on how to download the file on the following pages:

• for users of Windows 8;
• for users of Windows 7;
• for users of Windows Vista.

Step 2. Unpack all files from the downloaded distributive using any application to work with archives (for example, 7-zip). Find the setup.exe file.

Step 3. On the computer where you want to install Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013, run the command prompt:

• In the left bottom corner of the screen click Start.
• Select (All) Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.

Step 4. Drag and drop the setup.exe file to the Command Prompt window. The path to the file will appear.

Step 5. In the Command Prompt window you can enter a command to launch the executable file setup.exe with various installation parameters and properties (see Installation parameters and properties).

Step 6. After you have entered the command in the command prompt, press the Enter key on the keyboard. As a result installation of Kaspersky Anti-Virus with the defined parameters will be launched.

Step 7. Follow the instructions of the Setup Wizard and finish the installation of Kaspersky Anti-Virus.

Installation parameters and properties

Installation parameters:

• Main parameters: 
  •  /s –silent mode (no dialog windows are displayed during the installation) (the correct syntax in the command prompt is the following: setup.exe /s)  
  • /p <property>=VALUE> – specify an installation property (the correct syntax in the command prompt is the following: setup.exe /p "ALLOWREBOOT=1 SKIPPRODUCTCHECK=1")  
  •  /h – hint
• Additional parameters:  
  • /a – administrative installation (installation files are copied to the defined network folder) (the correct syntax in the command prompt is the following: setup.exe /a"Z:\Kaspersky Lab")  
  • /x – uninstall the product (the correct syntax in the command prompt is the following: setup.exe /x) 

Most significant installation properties:  

• ACTIVATIONCODE=<VALUE> – activation code.

• ALLOWREBOOT=1 – allow reboot if necessary (the correct syntax in the command prompt is the following: setup.exe /p "ALLOWREBOOT=1")  
• INSTALLDIR=<VALUE> – installation directory (the correct syntax in the command prompt is the following: setup.exe /p "INSTALLDIR=C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\kav2013") 
• KLPASSWD=<VALUE> – set up a password to various product functions (the correct syntax in the command prompt is the following: setup.exe /p "KLPASSWD=12345678"). If the value of the KLPASSWDAREA parameter is not set, then the default password scope is used:
  • change product settings;
  • finish product work.
• KLPASSWDAREA=[SET|EXIT|PARCTL|UNINST] – password scope set by the KLPASSWD parameter: 
  • SET – changes product settings 
  • EXIT – finishes product work 
  • PARCTL – changes settings of Parental Control
  • UNINST – uninstalls the product
  Multiple values of the parameter are entered through a semicolon ";".
