Concerning to:
Kaspersky Administration Kit 6.0 MP1 (build 6.0.1405)
Kaspersky Removal Tool
You can get the distributive of Kaspersky Removal Tool ONLY if you send a request to Kaspersky Lab Technical Support Service!
There are two ways to remove an application using the Kaspersky Removal Tool utility via Kaspersky Administration Kit. Each method has its advantages.
Removing applications using the embedded utility Kaspersky Removal Tool
The utility Kaspersky Removal Tool is embedded in Kaspersky Administration Kit and thus applications can be removed via the product uninstall task. Either Kaspersky Anti-Virus or third-party anti-virus applications might be removed with the utility.
For it run the New Task Wizard and when selecting an application to uninstall click Uninstall the external application and select the necessary external application from the drop-down list.
A corresponding ini-file with the necessary application information gives the possibility to remove an application. Such ini-files are regularly prepared by Kaspersky Lab experts and are published as a part of the Kaspersky Removal Tool utility.
The distributive of Kaspersky Administration Kit is released rarer than the distributive of the Kaspersky Removal Tool utility. That is why if you have to uninstall the application for which an ini-file already exists but it is not included into Kaspersky Administration Kit in this case such file can be manually put into the setup folder of Kaspersky Administration Kit.
For it:
1. Download the latest version of Kaspersky Removal Tool and find the necessary ini-file for the application you want to uninstall.
2. Save this file into the folder Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Administration Kit\Nagent\Data\Cleaner on the computer with the installed Administration Server.
3. Restart the service of the Administration Server in order to force the load of new data.
4. Run the New Task Wizard to create an uninstall task and select the necessary application.
The new application might be added at the end of the list of applications.
Once the application is uninstalled the OS should be rebooted; otherwise the user is prompted to reboot the PC every 5 minutes.
Creating an installation package and uninstall task manually
There is another method to configure uninstallation of applications via Kaspersky Administration Kit using Kaspersky Removal Tool. This method has several advantages:
In order to use this method, do the following:
1. Download the latest version of the utility Kaspersky Removal Tool and unpack the downloaded archive.
2. In the subfolder scripts find the ini-files for deletion of the necessary applications and copy these ini-files to the subfolder akpack\exec.
Any number of ini-files can be copied.
3. Choose which result of the uninstall task execution will have the Warning status (the yellow icon).
If during the uninstall task no failures occurred, then the task can have one of the three results:
Three kpd-files reside in the folder akpack:
By other two results the status of the task execution is Info.
In order to select this variant rename the file kleaner_report_remove.~kpd to kleaner_report_remove.kpd. Delete the files kleaner.kpd and kleaner_report_nothing_detected.~kpd.
By other two results the status of the task execution will be Info.
In order to select this variant, rename the file kleaner_report_nothing_detected.~kpd to kleaner_report_nothing_detected.kpd. Delete the files kleaner.kpd and kleaner_report_remove.~kpd.
4. To set the mode to reboot a client computer once the application is deleted. This mode is set manually by editing the file klrbtagt.ini in the folder akpack.
The following boot variants are possible:
To select this variant, set the following values for the defined parameters:
RebootImmediately=0
AskReboot=0
ForceReboot=0
- Reboot the operating system automatically once the application is deleted.
In order to select this variant set the following values for the defined parameters:
RebootImmediately=1
In this case the values of other parameters will be ignored.
- Reboot the operating system automatically after the defined period of time once the application is deleted.
In order to select this variant set the following values for the defined parameters:
ForceRebootTimeLeftMsg="Your operating system will be automatically restarted in (sec.):"
RebootImmediately=0
AskReboot=0
ForceReboot=1
ForceRebootTime=25
Where ForceRebootTime is the parameter that defines the time in minutes after which the computer will be rebooted automatically.
The paramter ForceRebootTimeLeftMsg sets the message which will be displayed to the user 60 seconds before the computer reboot.
- Prompt the user for a client computer reboot. In order to select this variant set the following values for the defined parameters:
- Text and names of the buttons in a dialog window for the user:
AskRebootMsg="Some application has been successfully removed from your computer. Your system needs to be restarted in order to complete the uninstallation."
AskRebootQuestion="Would you like to restart your operating system now?"
BtnRestart="Restart"
BtnDelayReboot="Delay"
AskReboot=1
AskRebootPeriod=5
ForceReboot=0
Where AskRebootPeriod is the parameter which sets the time in minutes via which the user will be prompted for reboot. The value 0 (zero) sets a once shown display of the prompt window.
If necessary you can enable push reboot via a set period of time
ForceReboot=1
ForceRebootTime=25
5. Create an installation package in Kaspersky Administration Kit.
An installation file is created by standard means in the Administration Console in the node Remote install. During the work of the New Package Wizard specify the path to the prepared kpd-file in the folder akpack (see point 3 above).
Remember that parameters of the created installation package cannot be edited in the interface of Kaspersky Administration Kit as the changes will not be applied!
6. Create and run the remote uninstall task based on the created package.
