The following problems may occur when Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 is used along with a firewall of another vendor:

  • Unable to receive or send emails.
  • Web pages load incorrectly or fail to load.
  • Internet connection drops within a short time after being established.

The reason is that Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 works in the server mode. It establishes network connections by itself and intercepts network traffic in order to scan it. Besides, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 scans default network ports of popular applications.

To eliminate the problem, create permissive rules for the AVP.EXE process. If your firewall has a training mode, enable it. Next time AVP.EXE attempts to establish a connection, the firewall will inform you about it. Allow any network activity to AVP.EXE.

If the firewall you are using does not have a training mode, create permissive rules for AVP.EXE manually.

System port rules:

  • Port of the AVP.EXE process: 1110. If the port 1110 is closed, the process AVP.EXE will start trying all ports from 1110 to 2110 until it finds an open port.
  • KSN port: 2001
  • Standard HTTP ports:  80, 81, 82, 83, 1080, 3128, 7900, 8080, 8088, 8888, 11523
  • Standard SMTP port: 25
  • Standard POP3 port: 110
  • Standard IRC ports: 113, 194, 6667, 6668, 6669
  • Standard NNTP port: 119
  • Standard IMAP port: 143
  • FTP port: 21
  • HTTPS port: 443
  • SMTP SSL port: 465
  • NNTP SSL port: 563
  • IMAP SSL port: 993
  • POP3 SSL port: 995
  • Local port: 19780

Ports used by popular applications (ports specified in the applications' preferences may differ):

  • ICQ/AIM: 5190
  • Jabber: 5269
  • Jabber/Google Talk: 5222
  • Jabber.Google Talk (SSL): 5223
  • MSN: 1863
  • Mail.Ru Agent: 2041
  • Yahoo! : 5101, 5050, 5001, 5000
  • uTorrent: 6969, 6881 — 6889
  • Skype: any ports higher than 1024 or 80 and 443

If after creating permissive rules an application informs you of a connection error, open your firewall's settings and create permissive rules for the exact port the application is trying to use.
