Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Smartphone can be installed by email. In this case the the administrator creates and sends an email to the mobile devices users containing an application distribution package or an instruction on how to download it.

The email should contain the following data:

  • an application distribution package as an attachment or a download link;

  • information about the Administration server connection settings.

InformationWhen installing Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Smartphone from a workstation, the Administration server connection settings are stored by the installation package. In case of installing by email, it is necessary to configure the connection settings manually..

In order to install Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Smartphone:

  • Create an email for the mobile devices users who need Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Smartphone installed;

    • Enter the subject “Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Smartphone distribution package for installing on mobile devices”;

    • Compose the body of the email using th following template:

Dear mobile device user,

this email contains a Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Smartphone distribution package with instructions on how to connect it to the remote Administration server.

In order to install Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Smartphone you should download the <file_name> installation file to your mobile device. (please find the installation file as an attachment / the installation file can be downloaded here: <installation_file_download_link>).

If you have received this email on your mobile device, please download the installation file (in the attachment / by following the download link) to the mobile device. If you have received this email on your workstation, please download the installation file to the mobile device using a data transfer utility. You should then execute the installation file and follow the application installation wizard to install the application.

The installation wizard will prompt you to apply values for the following settings:

Server – enter <Administration_server_address> into the Address field;
Port – enter <Administration_server_port> into the Port field;
Group – enter <Group_name> into the Group field;
Your email address – enter your corporate email address.

Please enter a correct email since it is used for registering the device on the remote administration system.|

Contact the administrator if any errors occur during the installation process.

  • Replace the text in angle brackets with the specific values of the following settings:

    • <file_name> is the name of the installation file for the operating system installed on the user's device. For instance, if the Windows Mobile operating system is installed on the user's device, you should indicate the installation file with the extension .cab.

    • <link_to_installation_file> is the link to the installation file for the operating system installed on the user's device. The installation file must be placed in advance on an ftp/http server that is accessible via the Internet. If for any reason it is not possible to place the installation file on a ftp/https server, you can attach the installation file to the message.

    • <Administration_Server_address> is the IP address or DNS name of the Administration Server to which the mobile devices will be connected. The server address must be stated in the same format as it appears in the Administration Server properties in the General tab and the Address field. This means that if the Administration Server properties show an IP address, include the same IP address in the message. If the Administration Server properties section shows a DNS name, include the same DNS name in the message.

    • <Administration_Server_port_number> is the number of the port open on the Administration Server for mobile device connections. Port 13292 is used by default.

    • <group_name> is the name of the group to which the mobile devices will automatically be added following their first synchronization with the Administration Server. By default, the devices are added to the group named KES8.
  • Run the Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Smartphone installation on the mobile device;
    • Download the application distribution package on a mobile device following the instruction provided in the email. If you have downloaded the distribution package on a workstation, connect the device to the workstation and copy the distribution package to the mobile device;

    • Open the file you have downloaded;

      The application installation will start automatically, and the application will be installed on the mobile device.

  • Configure the synchronization with the Administration server;

    • Open Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Smartphone on the mobile device;

    • Set a secret code;

    • Specify the Administration server connection properties:

      • Server;
      • Port;
      • Group.

    • Enter your corporate email in the Your email address field and click OK;
