How to uninstall Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition

Applies to Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition

It can be done one of the following ways:

  • locally;
  • from command line prompt;
  • via Kaspersky Administration Kit;
  • via Active Directory group policies.

Administration tools can be uninstalled one of the following ways:

  • locally;
  • from command line prompt;
  • via Active Directory group policies.

LOCALLY 

Local uninstallation of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition:
  1. Go to Start > All programs > Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition > Uninstall Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0.

  2. Select Remove program components.

  3. Check corresponding boxes if you want to export quarantine and backup storage contents.

  4. Confirm removal in the next step.

    WarningA reboot might require after removing Kaspersky Anti-Virus.

Local uninstallation of Administration tools:
  1. Go to Start > All programs > Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition > Administration Tools > Modify or remove.

  2. Select Remove program components.

  3. Confirm removal in the next step.

FROM COMMAND LINE PROMPT

Uninstall Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition:
msiexec /x kavws.msi [RESTOREQTN] [RESTOREBCK] [RESTOREPATH] 
There are optional switches allowing to restore quarantine and backup storages in a separate folder after removing Kaspersky Anti-Virus.

RESTOREQTN=<value> - restore quarantine contents.

– delete quarantine contents (by default).
1 – restore quarantined objects in a folder defined by the switch RESTOREPATH.

RESTOREBCK=<value> - restore backup storage contents.

0 – delete backup storage contents (by default).
1 – restore backup storage contents in a folder defined by the switch RESTOREPATH.


RESTOREPATH=<full_folder_path> - folder for objects restored from quarantine and backup storage.

InformationKaspersky Anti-Virus key files will also be saved in this folder.

Default value - %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Kaspersky Lab\KAV for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition\8.0\Uninstall

 
Uninstall Administration Tools:
msiexec /x kavwstools.msi 

VIA ACTIVE DIRECTORY GROUP POLICIES

InformationIt is only possible to remove applications using default uninstallation properties (quarantined and backup storage objects get deleted).
  1. Open the console Active Directory Users and Computers on the domain controller and right-click the organizational unit you want to remove Anti-Virus or Administration Tools from, and invoke the command Properties.

  2. Go to the tab Group Policy.

  3. Right-click the group policy used to install Anti-Virus and select Edit.

  4. Right-click Anti-Virus/Administration Tools installation package in the node Software Installation and invoke the command All tasksRemove (Computer configuration > Software settings > Software Installation).

  5. Select Immediately uninstall the software from users and computers.

  6. Apply the changes with a command:
    • gpupdate/force – for Microsoft Windows Server 2003;

      Anti-Virus will be deleted from the computers after a reboot before logging into Microsoft Windows.

VIA KASPERSKY ADMINISTRATION KIT

InformationKaspersky Administration Kit can be used to uninstall only Kaspersky Anti-Virus and only with default uninstallation properties (quarantined and backup storage objects get deleted). It is impossible to uninstall Administration Tools this way.

Create a group or global remote uninstallation task and run it on corresponding servers to remove Kaspersky Anti-Virus.
