An activation code is a unique set of characters that come in 4 blocks separated by a hyphen(-). Each block contains 5 characters which can be a combination of letters and numbers, which comes to a total of 20 characters (XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX).
If you have installed Kaspersky Internet Security 2013, but you do not have an activation code to activate the application, then you can purchase a commercial license and activate the application.
Activation codes are created for each Kaspersky Lab product separately.
If you have purchased Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 via the eStore, the activation code will be sent to the e-mail address you have specified when making the order.
In Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 you can add a new activation code alongside an active license.

Once your license expires, the reserved activation code will be activated automatically. This ensures that your protection is never disrupted.
Note: If the current license has not expired yet, and you click the Activate now button, the remaining time on the current license will be lost.
You can activate Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 using the following methods:

An unused non-subscription activation code can be activated at any time, but the license will begin to lose time on the day of initial activation. The license validity period is calculated since the first activation (i.e. once an activation code is activated on any of the two computers it was purchased for).
An unused subscription activation code can be activated at any time as well, but the license begins the very moment it is scanned by the retail merchant (i.e. Best Buy). In this case the license validity period is calculated by the date of purchase.
This information does not refer to trial activation codes. Validity period for trial activation codes is restricted (Usually 30 days).
When a commercial activation code expires (this type of code is valid for a year or more), Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 will continue working with restrictions (for example, Parental Control and Safe Money will stop functioning) and will not update databases of known threats. I.e. the application will continue to disinfect infected objects / filter spam, but with the databases which were downloaded on the last day of your activation code validity.
Even if you manage to download the databases manually and try to install these to the product, the product will stop functioning properly.
You cannot prolong the license validity period of a commercial activation code by adding a trial activation code. No trial activation code can be added to the product once a commercial activation code was installed.
When a trial activation code expires (a trial activation code is valid for one month), Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 stops functioning (protection will be disabled and the databases will not be updated).
You cannot install two or more trial activation code on your computer concurrently/ in turn; as the validity period of another trial activation code will not either overlap or prolong the license validity period of the first trial code.
To restore the product’s functionality when any activation code has expired you should simply add a new commercial activation code into the product. You do not have to reinstall the application.
