Notification of the kind can be configured in two ways:
1 method – by using the event of the Administration Server Host has not been connected to Administration Server for a long time. The event is connected with the group parameter Notify the administrator if computer is not active for longer than (days).
1. In the properties of the Groups group (or any other) on the Computers tab check the Notify the administrator if the computer is not active for longer than (days) box and enter the value.
2. In the Administration Server properties on the Events tab.
Choose the Warning severity level,
Highlight the Computer inactivity period has been too long event - and check the box for the necessary notification method (by e-mail, NetSend and/or by running executable)
Click the Properties button in the lower part of the tab and in the open window make sure the event will be saved on the Server (the On Administration Server for (days) box is checked and the value is set not to zero)
Additionally: the Host is out of control event for the Critical severity level can be stored. You can also configure notifications for both of these events. The event is generated if there is no connection with the remote Agent, but the client computer responds to the ping.
2 method – using computer statuses. If the second method is used icons of computers, which have not connected to the Server for a long time, will change their colour to yellow or red (depending on the status they get) and the administrator will get the corresponding notification.
1. in the properties of the Groups group (or any other group) on the Computer status tab in the Warning (or Critical) computer status' condition enable the Host has not been connected to Administration Server for a long time parameter and set the value in days (you might need to uncheck the Inherit checkbox for it).
In this case if the Client is out of control its status changes to Warning (or Critical) correspondingly.
2. In the Administration Server properties on the Events tab
Choose the Warning (or Critical) severity level,
Highlight the Host status is “Warning” (or Host status is “Critical”) event and check the box for the necessary notification method (by e-mail, NetSend and/or by running executable)
Click the Properties button in the lower part of the tab and in the open window make sure the event will be saved on the Server (the On Administration Server for (days) box is checked and the value is set not to zero)
Additionally the Host is out of control event for event of the Critical severity level can be stored. You can also configure notifications for both of these events. The event is generated if there is no connection with the remote Agent, but the client computer responds to the ping.
Remember, parameters to store and notify the administrator are configured for a highlighted event only! To change the parameters for several events highlight them with a mouse and at the same time keep the button Ctrl pressed on a keyboard or click the Select all button.
Do not forget to configure parameters in the Administration Server properties on the Notification tab to send notifications.
