How to create a shared folder update task using Update Agent

Update Agent is a computer serving as a provisional center of distribution of updates and installation packages.
If there are several Update Agents in the network, a separate database & module update task should be configured for each of them. By default, it is impossible to create a Task for specific computers for more than one Update Agent.

You can manually add this task into the list of Tasks for specific computers via Windows Registry.
Please do the following on a computer with installed Administration Server console:
  1. Enable the task Update Agent updates shared folder

    • Open the Registry Editor (go to Start > Run, type in regedit and press Enter).
    • Open the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\KasperskyLab\Components\34.
    • Create a new key Showtask (click Edit >New >Key).
    • Open the key Showtask. Click Edit > New > DWORD value.
    • Create a DWORD value named SHOW_UPDATE_TASK.
    • Open SHOW_UPDATE_TASK DWORD value properties (Modify):

      • 0 – task disabled
      • 1 – task enabled

InformationThere is no need to reboot the Administration Server after modifying a DWORD value.

  2. Configure a task Update Agent updates shared folder in the Administration Server console.
    • Start the Administration Server console and go to the node Tasks for specific computers.
    • Click Create a new task in the right panel.

    • Select the task type Update Agent updates shared folder.
    • Click Next and configure:

      • Update sources used by the Update Agent to update the shared folder.
      • Connection settings (address, port, authentication data, proxy if any).
      • Other settings (whether it is necessary to update Network Agent modules).

    • Click Next and select a group of computers (used as an Update Agent) to use the task Update Agent updates shared folder being created.
    • Click Next and configure the Schedule to run the task.
Make sure there is an Update Agent updates shared folder task in the list of Tasks of the Update Agent (properties of the computer assigned as an Update Agent, tab Tasks).
